Fast and safe: architects for the internet of the future are trained in Armenia

YEREVAN, December 2. /ARKA/. In the beginning of the 21st century it was hard to imagine how big a place the Internet would take in our lives, but today it's hard to imagine how we lived without it.

However, the world does not stand still and what seems a miracle today, becomes an everyday occurrence tomorrow. And now, we the first signals are emerging that the modern Internet is becoming "obsolete", but there is also the RINA computer networks that is very likely to replace it.

To develop this new technology, the RINAArmenia has been created with the support from France. RINAArmenia  is the first RINA Center of Excellence in the world.

"Much has been said about the revolution in Armenia, but there is also a technology revolution. I want to say that France is standing next to Armenia in this technology revolution," said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lackote at an event, held to present RINA.

What is RINA?

Recursive Inter Network Architecture, or RINA for short, is the new computer network architecture called the Internet of the Future. The goal of RINA is to provide easier and more secure data exchange between devices. The modern Internet is based on the TCP / IP protocol, which was developed 50 years ago. RINA program participants say when developing this technology it was impossible to imagine new achievements in this area, so every time they had to "create an add-on" that allowed the latest technologies such as a wireless network to work within the framework of an existing architecture.
Based on all this, the main advantages of the new architecture are emerging, such as scalability, security, performance, manageability, flexibility and so on.

The key role of Armenia

“To implement the program, an environment was needed in which the impossible could be made possible, which is why we have chosen Armenia,” said Philippe Poux, the founder of RINA.
The program includes an educational component. To carry out RINA development in Armenia, French specialists will arrive to teach the new technology to Armenian and foreign students and communications engineers.

Hayk Mnatsakanyan, the Executive Director of RINAArmenia, said that the first trainings were started about two weeks ago and were available to a wide range of people.

"In the future, as we begin to concentrate more on  technical aspects, students with a technical base will become the target audience, who will be able to understand and apply what we will teach, so that in the future it will be possible to implement projects together with them," he said.
Mnatsakanyan also said that negotiations with representatives of the Engineering City in Yerevan were in the final stage.

"We intend to expand our educational courses, and next year, in addition to the French University, trainings will also be held in two other educational institutions of Armenia in autumn and spring," he said, adding that the launch of the online learning platform is planned for June 2020.

Mnatsakanyan stated that one of the goals of the project, among other things, is to present Armenia as an exceptionally technologically advanced country both locally and internationally.
At the end of 2020 Armenia will host an international conference on RINA.-0-
