Armenian government approves extension of import privileges for electric vehicles
YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. At a meeting Thursday the Armenian government approved the extension for a year of previously introduced tax benefits for imports of electric vehicles. In particular, importers will be exempted from paying VAT.
Deputy Economy Minister Arman Khojoyan noted that at the moment there are quotas for duty-free import of electric vehicles in the EEU member countries.
According to him, imports of e-vehicles in Armenia in 2022 surged by 12 times compared to 2020. In 2022, there was also a 3.8-fold increase in imports of electric scooters and electric motorcycles compared to 2021.
Khojoyan also said that the EEU is considering the extension of the terms of duty-free imports.
In turn, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that at the moment there are problems with infrastructure, namely the availability of fast charging stations. He expressed confidence that the market itself will be able to solve this problem.
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan added that it is necessary to stimulate the development of infrastructures for electric cars. -0-
