Armenian subsidiary of MTS sold to Cypriot company
YEREVAN, November 15. /ARKA/. Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has approved today the sale of MTS-Armenia telecom operator (trading as Viva-MTS, a subsidiary of Russia's MTS) to Cypriot-based Fedilco Group Limited. Now the owner of 100% shares of the telecom operator is Aramayo Investments Limited (registered in Cyprus, a member of MTS group).
Ashot Ulikhanyan Head of Tariff Policy Department at PSRC, said the transaction was not objected by the National Security Service and the Ministry of Hi-Tech Industry.
Earlier, in April 2023, Armenia’s Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) prohibited the sale of the operator’s shares to Fedilco Group Limited.
The application to change the owner of MTS Armenia was also rejected by the PSRC, because 'it was inconsistent with the state interests and national security of the country.'
