MTS Armenia applies to PSRC of Armenia for permission to sell shares
YEREVAN, March 13. /ARKA/. MTS Armenia telecom operator has formally asked for the Public Services Regulatory Commission's (PSRC) permission to buy and sell shares, PSRC spokeswoman Liana Azizyan told ARKA news agency.
She said telecom's request is being considered by the PSRC. 'We are waiting for the Ministry of High Technology Industry, the National Security Service and the Economic Competition Commission to voice their positions," Azizyan added.
She declined to say whether the telecom wants to sell part or all of its shares, citing commercial secrets.
MTS Armenia is the Armenian subsidiary of Russian Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), which together with its affiliated companies serves around 88 mln subscribers in Russia, Armenia and Belarus. Since June, 2000 MTS shares have been traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker MBT. --0—
