Gyumri to host second forum on strengthening of regions through development of high technologies

YEREVAN, December 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s second-largest town of Gyumri, the capital of northwestern province of Shirak, will be hosting December 7-8 the second forum to focus on the strengthening of the regions through the development of high technologies. The event will be held with the support of the government, the head of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation Bagrat Yengibaryan told reporters on Wednesday.

He said the forum will be attended by foreign experts, representatives of local government agencies and the private sector, interested in the development of high-tech.

He said the first day of the event will be devoted to experience sharing with the focus on successful global companies. The participants will also look into their own issues of concern. The second day will consist of trainings, seminars and master classes for about 200 young specialists from all regions of Armenia.

Amalia Yegoyan, head of the regional development programs of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, said the December 7 that will mark the 30th anniversary of the earthquake that razed the town and the province of Shirak to the ground was not chosen an accident.

She said this way they want to emphasize that despite the severe wounds that were caused exactly 30 years ago, the town of Gyumri has revived and could become a leading center of advanced technologies. The forum is held by the Enterprise Incubator Foundation as part of Support to SME Development (EU-SMEDA) Project, co-funded by the European Union and the German Private Sector Development in South Caucasus Program (GIZ). -0-
