Hour of Code event held in Armenia for fifth time
YEREVAN, December 17 /ARKA/. Over 250 students from different schools in Armenia took part in the international event called The Hour of Code (Programming Hour) that was held in Armenia for the fifth time, the Microsoft Innovation Center in Armenia reported.
The event was to help raise the children’s interest in programming and development of skills necessary in solving various problems through games, developed by international IT-companies.
“In Armenia, children and their parents have a great interest in the IT field. We used the event to show children what programming is, what tasks can be accomplished by means of information technologies, and how the first steps can be taken,” said head of Microsoft Innovation Center in Armenia Artashes Vardanyan.
In turn, the Executive Director of Ayb School David Sahakyan noted the importance of acquiring programming skills in an ever-changing world.
"The current first-graders will graduate from a school in a completely different environment- the world will be completely different. In that different world, we will be surrounded by automatic systems that will take on the functions, which are considered to be the prerogative of humans. In the future, without knowledge of programming languages, it will impossible to live life to the fullest," said Sahakyan. -0-
