Rostelecom is the main sponsor of Armenia's national stage of World Robot Olympiad

YEREVAN, July 25, /ARKA/. Armenia's national stage of the World Robot Olympiad, which has already become a tradition, took place, and Rostelecom once again acted as the main sponsor of the competition that aims to develop students' logical and engineering abilities, creating an opportunity for practical application of theoretical knowledge and stimulating students' creativity.

The competition was organized by Ayb educational foundation. It is noteworthy that this year the number of teams participating in the competition has doubled to 16 of students aged 8-19.

There is a continuous increase in the number of students interested in robotics, and the involvement of girls in robotics has also increased. Children from Yerevan and other marzes - Shirak, Kotayk, Syunik - participated in the national stage of the World Robot Olympiad.

Rostelecom has been sponsoring the national stage of the World Robot Olympiad for the 5th year, supporting also the participation in the international stage of the competition.

The company implemented also "Give a Dream" project aimed at the development of robotics, which started in the regions of Armenia.

Back in the spring of this year, Rostelecom established the first robotics training laboratory in Gyumri, and very recently the company established the 2nd robotics training laboratory, this time in Shaghap village of Ararat region.

The students of the Gyumri laboratory (GDL team) have already managed to register their first and serious victory, taking the 1st place in the national stage of the "Legostart" competition.

The team also performed well in the national stage of the World Robot Olympiad, taking 3rd place in their age group.

"We always support events aimed at the development of robotics, giving importance to this direction of education. The World Robot Olympiad is a big event of Lego education, a feast, which brings together a large number of students, trainers and organizations interested in robotics. The competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to demonstrate, apply and transfer technological knowledge and practical skills to each other, creating a great potential and motivation to discover new things. Thanks to all this, in the future we will surely have a more technologically developed Armenia," said Hayk Faramazyan, General Director of Rostelecom Armenia.

In the elementary age group of the national round of the World Robot Olympiad, the "Gittun 1" team from Kapan was recognized as the best, the "Best Trio" team won in the junior age group, and the "Fizmat" team was the best in the senior age group.

The winning teams received tickets to Germany to participate in the international round of the World Robot Olympiad. -0-
