Armenia’s government introduces electronic system for accepting license applications
YEREVAN, March 14, /ARKA/. Armenia’s government has introduced an electronic system for accepting applications for all types of licenses. The new software can be found at www.e-gov.am/licenses, David Sarkisian, chief of the government staff, told journalists today.
Armenian National Assembly (parliament) approved late last year a package of changes to the law on licensing and a dozens of related laws which have substantially reduced the number of activities subject to mandatory licensing from 169 to 96. Licenses for 84 types of economic and other activity will be issued through the so-called complicated procedures.
David Sarkisian said the new system will enable applicants to also follow the pace of an application going through all stages. He said first applications seeking permission for construction business have been received. He said the new system is part of a broader government-designed plan to improve dramatically the country’s business environment.
‘Introduction of e-government is a priority of the government allowing it to make its activity more transparent and reduce the number of contacts between business people and officials,’ David Sarkisian said.
He said license fees paid now via banks will be paid later via plastic cards. He said expectations are high that more and more business people will turn to e-electronic system of sending license applications because the number of Internet users is on a permanent rise. M.M. -0-
