Around 6,500 people in Armenia have digital signatures

YEREVAN, October 21. / ARKA /. Around 6,500 people in Armenia have digital signatures, Aram Orbelian, a deputy minister of justice, said yesterday. He said electronic signatures will be provided soon by more offices of the electronic registrar. Currently only three of them do so.

According to Orbelian, only some 20 companies have taken advantage of electronic registration system, but the number of electronically submitted and received documents and reports is increasing.

On February 17, 2011 the government decided to introduce from March 2011 a new system of state registration of legal entities, which will be applied in accordance with the principle of "one window".

To found a company now requires only one visit to the state structure, which, after accepting papers, does all procedures in collaboration with the state registrar, tax authorities, ministries and departments. An electronic registration system was also introduced.

"We must inform people about simplicity and usability of the online system of registration of legal persons. Unfortunately, many people, out of habit, still rely on written documents, for fear of insecurity of on-line registration," said the deputy minister.

He also noted that the promotion of on-line registration will reduce queues at the offices of the state registration of legal persons. A simplified system of registration of businesses by the State Register was started in 2011 with the aim of reducing the amount of documentation and time required to process documents for business registration. The new system reduces the process of registration from 18 to 5 days. It takes one day to register an electronically submitted application. -0-
