About 30 percent of Armenian internet users fluent only in native language
YEREVAN, March 12. / ARKA /. About 30% of Internet users in Armenia are fluent only in their native language and therefore they need more content in Armenian, the deputy chairman of Internet Society non-governmental organization Gregory Saghyan told a news conference today, citing the findings of a recent survey conducted among Internet users across the country. According to him, these figures are an indication of the need to expand the Armenian-language Internet-based content. As a positive sign he mentioned development of mobile applications in Armenian, as well as the Armenian language Wikipedia that has already more than 120,000 entries. There is also the registered Armenian-language domain .հայ (.hay) that enables development of comprehensive solutions for navigating through the internet exclusively in the Armenian language. Saghyan then called on local users to write their sms by using Armenian letters, especially that many smartphones support already Armenian language texts. -0-
