Armenia’s CityBugs.am receives prize of pan-European competition digital creativity for social good
YEREVAN, December 2. / ARKA /. Armenia's CityBugs.am innovative project, the winner of a pan-European competition Digital Creativity for Social Good in the category of Future Living, was awarded the prize during a ceremony in Graz, Austria in late November, the head of the project, Arman Atoyan told a news conference today. Atoyan said the Armenian team received a certificate and no financial award. According to him, what is more important is establishing good contacts with representatives of different countries for further cooperation. "Our website was declared the winner because CityBugs.am is a social platform designed for discussing important social," said Atoyan. CityBugs is a social platform to enable solutions for critical issues affecting the environment, health, education, public services and more. Using a participatory approach – “Let’s make our city a better place to live in,” citizens report the “bug” in their community to municipal authorities, while tracking and validating the solution. Committed citizens can access CityBugs using the web platform or a mobile application, reporting any relevant issue whether garbage removal, health care problems, missing zebras and street lighting, or infrastructure for the disabled. Using Community Action Groups, CityBugs activates youth to overcome apathy, to learn volunteerism, open up career paths and discover the value of action for the common good, while improving services. Citybugs was created with USAID assistance in 2011, but was launched earlier this year. -0-
