Armenia’s ministry of territorial administration recognized as most transparent government agency
YEREVAN, October 7, /ARKA/. Armenia’s ministry of territorial administration was recognized as the best government agency with the most comprehensive transparency website by the Committee to Protect Freedom of Speech, whose chairman Ashot Melikyan, presented today the results of a regular monitoring of government agencies’ official sites.
The monitoring was conducted from May to September to assess the level of the websites’ transparency.
Speaking at a news conference Ashot Melikyan said the preliminary findings were announced in July to give government agencies time to look into the faults in their websites and correct them.
He said also the committee used a special methodology provided by the Institute for Information Freedom Development in Russian St. Petersburg to study 34 websites of government agencies and 10 provincial administrations in 146 parameters.
He said the State Migration Service had the second most transparent website. It was followed by the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the National Commission on Television and Radio and the State Nuclear Safety Committee were in the bottom of the list.
The provincial administrations of Kotayk, Lori and Ararat regions had the best website. The worst websites had Tavush, Shirak and Syunik regions.
According to Melikyan, many state agencies’ websites lack information about inspections, use of funds, vacancies and other important information.-0-
