Armenian PicsArt app downloaded by over 220 million users
YEREVAN, April 14. / ARKA /. PicsArt app, which is a full-featured mobile photo editor, created in Armenia, has been downloaded by 220 million users across the globe, a senior manager of PicsArt Mikael Vardanyan, told ARKA.
He said the application is used by 60 million active users, the bulk of whom - about 50%- are in Europe and Americas, followed by Asia - 25%. According to him, this application is viewed by many as a worthy competitor to another popular free app Instagram.
Mikael Vardanyan said they want to have more people to use the app, especially those who are active in various social networks. In the future the company plans to create feature-rich video albums, chat rooms, allowing chatting with celebrities.
This year, he said, the company intends to change the interface, making the application more accessible and convenient to use, especially for those who have just downloaded it.
This company started with five people, and now it has 120 employees in Armenia alone and another six in San Francisco, USA. The USA office is to be expanded to 30 people, he said.
"Among our foreign colleagues we have highly qualified professionals working at Google, Facebook and other well-known companies who need very little time to bring to a new level our updates,’ said Vardanyan.
Vardanyan said the company needs developers, testers, engineers for its Armenian office, and marketing, design and management professionals outside Armenia. PicsArt is now available in 13 languages and their number is to grow, he said.
The first version of PicsArt appeared for devices running on Android operating system in November 2011; in 2013 the application was available for devices working on iOS and in 2014 - on Windows platforms. In 2014, the PicsArt was fifth in the list of 100 most popular free apps in the Apple App Store.-0-
