ArmenTel says number of mobile internet users grows by 30 percent
YEREVAN, June 6. / ARKA /. ArmenTel telecom CEO, Andrei Pyatakhin said to a news conference today that the number of mobile Internet users has grown by 30%, while the volume of traffic has doubled.
"We understand that subscribers use also fixed networks, which have also reported the growth of traffic," he said at Novosti International Press Center.
He refrained from naming specific figures, stressing only that there is double-digit growth of users and traffic.
"On average, a mobile Internet user downloads one gigabyte a month, and some manage to download very large volumes," he said.
Among the most frequently visited sites are search engines, social networks, as well as sites with "specific" content, he said.
He said ArmenTel (trading as Beeline) is working to expand the coverage area of the mobile Internet by building new stations, increasing the number of channels to the base stations to improve the quality of the Internet.
ArmenTel is owned by Russian VimpelCom. It provides mobile and fixed telephony as well as high--speed Internet. -0-
