Mobile banking trojans attack armenian users three times less in 2020 first quarter

YEREVAN, June 1. /ARKA/. Mobile banking Trojans attacked users in Armenia three times less, according to a Kaspersky Lab study.

The Kaspersky Lab representative office in Armenia said only 0.07% of users in Armenia encountered attacks from mobile banking Trojans in the first quarter of 2020.

In Georgia, such attacks were registered on devices of 0.04% users and in Azerbaijan - 0.06% of users.

In January-March 2019, 0.23% of Armenian users were attacked by mobile banking Trojans, making Armenia 7th in the top ten countries with the largest share of users whose devices were attacked by mobile Trojans. In Georgia, 0.12% of mobile device owners faced such attacks then, and in Azerbaijan - 0.14%.

In the first quarter of 2020, Japan (0.57%) was first by the number of users attacked by mobile banking Trojans, followed by Spain (0.48%) and Italy (0.26%).

According to experts, mobile devices infected with banking Trojans transmit bank card data and user applications to the creators of the malware. To do this, they block the interface of the banking application with their own, and the user, having entered their banking data in the Trojan interface, transfers them to cybercriminals.

These Trojans can also intercept SMS from banks with confirmation codes and send them to criminals. In addition to observing the basic rules of cybersecurity, users should install a reliable antivirus on their mobile device, which will prevent the installation of Trojans, other malware and visits to malicious sites. –0--
