Rostelecom in Armenia opens its data center for students
YEREVAN, December 13. /ARKA/. Rostelecom in Armenia has opened a data center for students, the press service of the company said. Students of the Armenian branch of the Russian Plekhanov University of Economics, who study the Cisco system, visited the telecom provider’s head office in Yerevan yesterday.
During the visit, the students were told about the services provided by the company, including corporate services, such as videoconferencing, virtual networks, IP transit and data transfer. The students were also familiarized with the services the company provided to individuals, in particular, the Smart -television, IP telephony and Internet.
Young people visited the company's data center, equipped with Juniper Networks, Cisco Systems, Extreme Networks, Fiber Home, ZTE and other modern systems. The main purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical information on international standards, systems and their capabilities.
GNC-ALFA began promotion and sale of broadband Internet, IP-TV and a new generation of IP-telephony in Armenia under the brand of Rostelecom from 2012 December.
The company’s fiber-optic network covers 80% of the territory of Armenia, extending to more than 2,500 km. The network is connected to the main regional backbones and major traffic exchange sites, as well as international channels via Georgia and Iran. -0
