Some 69% of Armenian internet users’ computers attacked by viruses
YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. The data received by using Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) shows that 68.85% of internet users’ computers in Armenia have undergone malware infection attempts over a period between January and May 2017.
Kaspersky Lab's Global Research & Analysis Team (GReAT) for Europe, Middle East and Africa says Armenia is 23th among world countries on this indicator.
The attacks have targeted mostly internet users in Yerevan – 69.21%, then in Ararat province – 21.85% and then in Kotayk province (19.68%), Lori (12.50%), Shirak (10.70%), Armavir (9.88%), Gegharkunik (9.74%), Syunik (7.01%), Aragatsotn (5.4%), Tavush (4.74%) and Vayots Dzor (2.56%).
Armen Karapetyan, representative of Kaspersky Lab in Armenia and Georgia, pointed out improper use of antivirus software as one of the key causes of infection.
“Unfortunately, the majority of users continue using unlicensed software, and this is a problem,” he said. “Another problem is the lack of the appropriate culture of antivirus software usage.”
In his words, many internet users take internet security rules not seriously. --0--
