The day of safe use of Internet celebrated in Armenia

YEREVAN, February 7. /ARKA/. The day of safe use of Internet is celebrated in Armenia within the event “Open virtual world…not dangerous”, organized by Yerevan representation office Microsoft in Armenia and international charity organization World Vision Armenia. 

The goal of the event is to increase the level of outreach of children, their parents about safe Internet.

The head of educational programs of Yerevan office Microsoft Christine Gyonjyan said that the company is conducting such events already the third year not only in Yerevan, but also in the regions.

“This year already four organizations have joined together within the programs: World Vision, Armenian Relief Fund and National Center of Educational Technologies of Armenia”, informed Gyonjyan.

Microsoft in Armenia regularly conducts seminars for children, their parents and teachers and explains how to regulate safe use of Internet. 

“Our main goal is to give children an opportunity to study the priorities which gives them Internet and protect them fr om its negative impact. Our future events will be conducted under the slogan “Armenia – a place for children wh ere they live with hope in their future”, said Director of World Vision –Armenia Graham Strong.   

World Vision operates in 130 communities in Yerevan and six regions of Armenia. It supports about 22 thousand children and their families. Its programs include areas of health, economic development, protection of children and spiritual development.

Corporation Microsoft cooperates with Armenia in the frames of the agreement signed on January 30, 2007 in Edinburgh (Scotland). According to the agreement, Microsoft will implement a number of investment, educational and innovative programs in Armenia, including the opening of Innovation Centre of Microsoft. –0—
