Translator.am may establish cooperation with ABBY Lingvo
YEREVAN, April 23. / ARKA /. Armenian on-line translator at translator.am may establish cooperation with ABBYY Lingvo- an easy-to-use online dictionary providing fast translation of words and phrases from Russian into several languages, Edward Manukyan, the developer of translator.am, told a news conference today.
"We exchange letters with ABBY Lingvo about possible cooperation and are going to meet with its representatives in the near future," he said.
Translator.am contains more than 73,000 semantic concepts which can be translated into 12 different languages and this number can be extended to 18, Manukyan said.
The system already has 115,000 words in English, 97,000 - in Eastern Armenian, 90,000 words in Western Armenian, 88,000 - in Russian, 10,500 – in old Armenian (grabar), 4,000 – in German and French respectively and 8,500 - in Latin.
It also has more than 45,000 words in Turkish, 25,000 - in Kurdish and 15,000 words in the Talysh languages.
Translator.am has been developed since 2000 by a team led by Edward Manukyan at ISMA LLC and machine translation laboratory of the State Engineering University of Armenia with the assistance from the ministry of Diaspora and Pyunik Foundation. -0-
