UCom to increase 4G+ network coverage in Armenia to about 90 percent before April 2018
YEREVAN, October 20. /ARKA/. UCom will increase coverage of 4G+ network in Armenia before April 2018, Hayk Yesayan, CEO of the Armenian telecommunication company told journalists on Friday.
In his words, some 80% of Armenia’s residents can use 4G+ network and the company intends to increase this indicator to 88% before April 2018.
“New generation smartphones can use three basic stations’ data at once, which makes it possible to triple speed in mobiles retaining the high quality of access even when users move,” he said.
Yesayan said that speeds up to 250 Mbit/s are ensured today in the 4G+ network, and this is a quite high indicator.
”An average mobile internet speed indicator in the working network is more than 60 Mbit/s,” he said. “This is a high indicator, since for watching a movie in HD quality only 2 Mbit/s is needed, an in a high resolution HD 9 to 10 Mbit/s. In fact, we provide speeds 10-15 times higher than necessary for a usual film watching.”
