Users in Armenia are less exposed to web attacks – study
YEREVAN, October 15. /ARKA/. In the second quarter of 2020, 5.6% of users in Armenia underwent infection attempts via the Internet, and in the first quarter - 5.9%, according to a study by Kaspersky Lab.
The report says that in April-June 2020, 7.9% of users in Georgia faced infection attempts through web attacks. With this indicator, the country took 12th place among the twenty countries in which users most often encountered web attacks. In the first quarter of the same year, the share of users subjected to such attacks in Georgia was 8.5%, and the country came 17th in the ranking In Azerbaijan, in the second and first quarters, the share of users subjected to web attacks was 6.5%.
In the second quarter of 2019, 15.4% of users in Armenia were attacked via the Internet: with this indicator, the country ranked 13th place in the world. During the same period, 14.2% of users in Georgia faced Internet attacks. In Azerbaijan, attacks via the Internet were registered on the devices of 16.59% of users, and this was the 8th indicator in the world.
According to the study, on average, during the second quarter of 2020, 5.73% of computers of Internet users in the world were subjected to a Malware-class web attack at least once. The company's solutions repelled 899,744,810 attacks launched from Internet resources located in 191 countries around the world. There were 286,229,445 unique URLs that were triggered by web antivirus.
To protect against web attacks, experts advise using a reliable antivirus with a web module that prevents the download of malicious objects from infected web pages. Malicious programs occurred there as a result of hacking by cybercriminals, who then inject malicious scripts and programs of various purposes into legitimate sites - hidden cryptocurrency miners, ransomware downloaders, programs for stealing personal and banking data. Attackers also deliberately create malicious sites, knowingly loading various malware into them, and then lure users to these sites using social engineering methods. –0--
