Vartanyan sentenced to five years in prison for fraud and hacking data
YEREVAN, July 20. /ARKA/. A Russian citizen, Mark Vartanyan, has been sentenced to five years in prison for fraud and development of a computer virus, Interfax reports.
The verdict has been rendered by a court in Atlanta – Vartanyan has been found guilty of hacker attacks and stealing of personal and financial data.
Investigators say the damage from the virus may amount to $500 million.
The convict has to remain imprisoned three years, since two of his five-year sentence he has already served in a jail in Norway while waiting for extradition to the United States. -0---
