Mobile operators should report to regulator quarterly

YEREVAN, May 12. /ARKA/. Mobile operators of Armenia “ArmenTel” (brand Beeline), “K-Telecom” (brand VivaCell-MTS) and Orange Armenia will report to Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia on quarterly basis.

Gevorg Gevorgyan, Head of PSRC Department of Telecommunications said that submission of quarterly report will not only allow getting information on the quality of provided services but also use joint technological solutions and interconnect.

“PSRC regularly applied to the companies for such an information which complicated the whole process. Introduction of the new form of regular reporting will allow the Commission to get necessary information, analyze it, understand general situation and make own conclusions without creating additional burden for the company”, said Gevorgyan.

After the meeting of the Commission, Bruno Dutua, General Director of Orange Armenia said that regulator’s decision is not a surprise for the company as it is common in the world.

“On the basis of financial and other data which characterize the state and the position of the companies, PSRC can understand the real situation in the market”, said Dutua.

Davit Sandukhchyan, Head of Legal Department of CJSC “ArmenTel” said that the decision of PSRC on quarterly reporting of data by mobile operators is acceptable and understandable by the company.

“ArmenTel”, as the leading operator of fixed communication in the country had always submitted data to PSRC on telephone communication and from November 2009, after recognition of the company in the market of international transit and data transfer, it also submits reports.

“Moreover, all the providers submit reports on Internet services except data of mobile connection services which are necessary for PSRC for monitoring, situation analysis, opportunities of the discussion of the issue on dominating position of the companies in the market, as well as economic prognoses”, said Sandukhchyan.

There are three mobile operators in the Armenian market - “ArmenTel” (brand Beeline – 100% affiliate of Russian company “VimpelCom”), VivaCell-MTS (affiliate of Russian operator “Mobile Systems” (MTS) and Orange Armenia (affiliate of France Telecom). –0
