Armenia’s presidential vote: Central Electoral Commission signs statement of preliminary results
YEREVAN, February 19. /ARKA/. Members of Armenia’s central electoral commission signed a statement of preliminary results Tuesday.
According to the ballot count results from all 1,988 polling stations, Sargsyan gained 861,378 votes or 58.64%, Raffi Hovannisian won 539,674 votes or 36.74%, Hrant Bagratyan - 31,643 votes or 2.15%, Paruyr Hayrikyan - 18,093 votes or 1.23%, Andrias Ghukasyan - 8,328 votes or 0.57%, Arman Melikyan - 3,520 votes or 0.24%,Vardan Sedrakyan – 6,203 votes or 0.42%.
According to the central electoral commission, a total of 2,529,016 voters were included on the electoral register. The vote turnout in the presidential election was 60.05% or 1,518,407 eligible voters.
Precinct electoral commissions were issued a total of 2,579,000 ballots, of them 50,992 ballots were declared invalid.
A total of 6,251 representatives of 26 local NGOs and 632 observers from twelve international organizations will be watching the presidential ballot. In particular, the international observers’ missions are from OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, CIS mission, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, CE Parliamentary Assembly, CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, International expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES) and International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). –0--
