PSRC: Armenia's NSS probably received additional information about new owner of Viva-MTS
YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) most likely requested and received additional information from a Cyprus-registered company that acquired MTS Armenia telecom operator (trading as Viva-MTS), the head of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) Garegin Baghramyan said on Tuesday.
The Cyprus-registered company is Fedilco Group Limited, whose application to obtain control over the Armenian subsidiary of MTS PJSC was approved by the PSRC on November 15, 2023 after rejecting a similar application by Fedilco in April this year.
Baghramyan said the PSRC had rejected the application for the acquisition of MTS Armenia by the same company because the deal was opposed by the National Security Service. He suggested that the NSS green-lighted the deal after requesting and receiving additional information from the Cypriot company.
He added that the PSRC was not aware of the details on the matter. "I can't say what has made the NSS to change its opinion," Baghramyan said.
