YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) said today within 15 days it will submit to the government a proposal for installation of equipment identifying Armenian fonts for sending SMS from mobile phones.
PSRC chairman Robert Nazarian said at a government session on Thursday that discussions were held with three mobile operators ArmenTel, Orange Armenia and VivaCell-MTS and practical solutions were found.
"We must order the equipment for making software changes in mobile phones. We will present the final outcome of the discussions to the government within next 15 days, he said.
He said the number of mobile phones, recognizing Armenian fonts and allowing sending SMS in the Armenian language make 1-2% of all telephones. Prime minister Tigran Sargsyan said Nokia has already developed an appropriate technology. -0-
