Armenian Diaspora startups to fight for 45 million dram worth prize fund of Potential 3.0 program
YEREVAN, July 25. /ARKA/. About 60 Armenian Diaspora representatives from 30 start-ups from around the world will participate in the "Potential 3.0" program of tech start-ups scheduled to take place in the Armenian town of Dilijan on September 26-30.
The government program "Potential 3.0" is implemented this year by the Ministry of Hi-Tech Industry together with My Step Foundation. The aim of the program is to stimulate repatriation of ethnic Armenian specialists, which is expected to contribute to the economic progress of the country and development of the local startup ecosystem.
Program participants will get acquainted with the advantages of business environment in Armenia, get a unique personal mentorship, present and develop their business ideas. The best ideas will receive grants, which will enable them to develop into business projects. The prize fund of the program is 45 million drams.
The five-day event includes interactive and personal lessons, master classes with the leading specialists of the industry.
High-tech industry minister Robert Khachatryan said during a press conference on Monday that the program is being implemented after a two-year hiatus.
"The program has a very important goal and mission to attract Diaspora Armenian startups to Armenia, contribute to the development of the Armenian startup ecosystem with their potential, ideas, programs and proactive activities," he said.
Khachatryan noted that this is also a good opportunity for Armenians from different parts of the world to return to their homeland.
"Potential 3.0 is a program that unites the innovative thought of Armenia and the Diaspora, becoming the cornerstone of projects aimed at the future of our country," he stressed.
Executive Director of My Step Foundation Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said the event will be a platform which can be used by Diaspora Armenia, by those who only generate ideas and by those who already have projects.
'Led by the Ministry and with our support, I'm sure the program will be a success this year," he said.
Applications for participation are accepted from July 25 to August 22. Start-ups, in which at least half of the founders or co-founders are Diaspora Armenians can participate in the program. The startup team should already be in place before applying for the program.-0-
