Sevan Startup Summit sums up results

YEREVAN, August 5 /ARKA/. The seven-day long annual Sevan Startup Summit, held last week on the shores of Lake Sevan that brought together 120 startups from Armenia and 45 other countries, summed up the results, Veon Armenia telecom operator (trading as Beeline in Armenia) said today.

It said well-known experts, representatives of the IT industry, officials, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in the event as guests. They were also welcomed by President Armen Sarkissian through the video. The Armenian President’s Prize for the participating teams was established last year.
This year, the start-ups  competed for a prize pool of $100,000. There was also a guaranteed investment fund of $100.000, which was to be divided between 2-3 startups.

"Beeline in Armenia also prepared a prize: two  selected companies - ForgeFiction and Evenor-  will have incubation period in the Beeline start-up incubator without competition," the company said.
In the starter category the winner was the Thermoscan mobile application, created to detect the risks of  breast cancer by using an infrared camera.

The winner in the booster category was Soraytec, which is creating  a smart device that measures voltage.
Naira Nazaryan,  head of Veon Armenia PR department, said the company is very actively involved in the Sevan Startup Summit, including at the expert level.

"And this is not by chance, because we truly consider ourselves as part of start-up ecosystems in Armenia and want young people in our country to easily and quickly open their start-ups, receive investments, grow and develop," she said.

According to the co-founder of Seaside Startap Sammit, Hakob Hakobyan, the week was full of achievements and experience.

"Despite the fact that the summit ended, there is still a lot of work, and we hope that we all will return to the summit again and help each other become even better," he said.

The Sevan Startup Summit is a gathering that brings together start-up entrepreneurs, investors and other representatives of the IT ecosystem, creating an unprecedented non-formal environment for education, business contacts and investment deals.

Beeline is a strategic partner of the event, and has been promoting the summit for the second year.
