VivaCell-MTS donates 25 million drams to National Center for Oncology for purchase of equipment
YEREVAN, September 18. /ARKA /. VivaCell-MTS telecom provider has donated 25 million Armenians drams to the National Center for Oncology to support its efforts in fighting cancer. The donation will be used to buy state of the art equipment, the company said in a press release.
“It’s just because we care that we are here today, beyond compassion and sweet words actions are needed. We need to join hands in this fight with cancer and make sure patients get the necessary attention here in Armenia without the need of traveling outside the country with all what that means from high expenses to endless procedures,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian was quoted as saying.
The National Center for Oncology hosts more than 10 thousand patients a year suffering various types of tumors. The Center provides medical assistance to patients from all over Armenia, operating more than 3,200 patients, providing antineoplastic chemotherapy to 4,500 and radiation treatment to 1,500 patients annually. The new equipment now available in the center will seriously help in early diagnosis of malignant tumors and in improvement of long-term results of the treatment.
In recognition of the continuous and highly valuable support, and for the implementation of numerous projects in the framework of corporate responsibility, as well as on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia, by the decision of the Minister of Health Derenik Dumanyan, VivaCell-MTS General Manager received a thank you letter and was awarded the Ministry of Health Medal.
Since its inception in Armenia in 2007 VivaCell-MTS have been implementing a long list of programs aimed at the modernization of the health care system.
Eighty percent of VivaCell-MTS is owned by Russian Mobile Telesystems (MTS) and the rest by Lebanese Fattouch Investment Group. ($1 – 408.74 drams). -0-
