Vimpelcom’s tajik subsidiary ex-manager heads Armentel

YEREVAN, April 16. /ARKA/. Igor Klimko, ex-general manager of the Tajik subsidiary of Russia’s mobile operator VimpelCom has been appointed Director General of Armenia’s ArmenTel (under the Beeline brand) telecommunications company.

Klimko replaced Neicho Velichkov who resigned on April 2. The newly appointed director general will launch his duties on April 27.
Commenting on the changes, Dmitry Pleskonos, executive vice president, Business Development in the CIS, said Beeline had posted record-high rates in the Tajik market during Klimko’s leadership.
 
“Our large-scale business in Armenia opens up new development opportunities, as the company provides a full range of communication services, including fixed-line telephony and wideband Internet connection,” Pleskonos said, adding he expected much from Klimko’s team.

In his turn, Klimko said he had always been keen to undertake ambitious tasks, such as unification of all types of communication services ArmenTel provides, as well as implementation of new on-demand services and enhancement of mobile communication business.

Born in Baltiysk city (Kaliningrad region) in 1969, Igor Klimko graduated from the Faculty of Law, Kaliningrad State University, in 1993. In 1996, he graduated from the Russian State Financial Academy. In 2002, Klimko earned an MBA degree from the International Management Institute of St. Petersburg (IMISP).
In 1998, together with a group of young specialists, Klimko became one of the initiators of the first GSM network construction in Kaliningrad.

From 2002 to 2006, he worked as General Directod of Kaliningrad’s mobile operator Extel LLC (purchased by VimpelCom in 2002).
Since 2006, he has been heading the Kaliningrad branch of VimpelCom.

In 2008, he was appointed Director General of Tajikistan’s Takom LLC (under the Beeline brand).
IN April 2007, VimpelCom became the absolute shareholder of ArmenTel. The latter offers fixed-line telephony services (around 650,000 subscribers) and offers mobile communication services (784,000 subscribers). –0--
