MTS, Russian cinematographers union, universal pictures Rus, launch international mobile film festival
YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. Russian top mobile network MTS (Mobile TeleSystems), Universal Pictures Rus and Russian Union of Cinematographers have announced the kickoff of the second International Mobile Film Festival.
The comeptition is an attempt to highlight the best short films (up to 5 minutes long) shot by mobile phones and video cameras.
According to Armenia’s leading mobile operator VivaCell-MTS, the event aims at boosting innovative filmmaking, as well as helping individuals to express their talent via modern technologies.
Anyone who is eager to participate in the competition must submit a short film to www.mms.mts.ru/fmk. The deadline for applications in June 15, 2009. Users can vote online for the films.
Films promoting sexual violence and stigmatizing minorities, as well as religious intolerance, will be prohibited.
The five nominations of the festival are as follows: the Bets Film, the Best Creative Idea, the Best Male Actor and the Best Female Actor.
A professional jury of filmmakers, actors, writers, painters and musicians will assess the selected films.
The winners will be awarded valuable gifts. The awards ceremony will take place in Moscow during the XXXI Moscow International Film Festival.
The film receiving the majority of the votes will be awarded in the nomination the Viewers’ Sympathy.
Universal Pictures Rus has prepared a special prize for one of the participants. –0--
