Armenian mobile operator Armentel waits for answer of Turkish telecom on connecting to fibre optic cable

YEREVAN, April 22. /ARKA/. Armenian telecommunication company ArmenTel is waiting for the answer of Turkish Telecom company on connecting to fibre optic cable, said head of public services of ArmenTel Anush Begloyan.

She denied rumors of Azerbaijani mass media that negotiations reached a deadlock because of economic crisis in Armenia.
“The process of negotiations is continued, we have made our suggestions to the Turkish side and are expecting their answer now,” said Begloyan.

According to her, the ball is in the Turkish side and she stressed ArmenTel is ready to continue the negotiations.
ArmenTel has earlier announced about its intentions to sign an agreement with company Turkish Telecom on laying a fibre optic cable. The company has all necessary permits for creating an international access to Internet through Turkey.

Currently Armenia has two fibre optic cables of international access to Internet through Georgia’s territory, as well as one through Iran. Another cable is being laid through Iran, and negotiations are being held on laying an additional cable through Georgia. –0--
