More than 940 schools in Armenia will be connected to inter-school computer system in 2010 – minister
YEREVAN, November 10. /ARKA/. “More than 940 general schools in Armenia will be connected to inter-school computer network in 2010”, said Armen Ashotyan, Minister of Education and Science during press-conference on Friday.
At present, the number of schools connected to inter-school computer system is 644. “In 2010 state budget of Armenia plans to allocate about 700 million drams for the provision of computer equipment and Internet connection in general schools”. In 2010 the number of schools provided with relevant equipment and connection will be 944”, said Ashotyan.
Only in 2010, 300 general schools will be connected to inter-school computer system. According to National Statistic Service of Armenia, currently 1475 general schools are operating in Armenia, where in 2008-2009 school-year 414 thousand 781 hundred pupils were studying, 48.2% of which were girls. In 2010 budget expenses of education sphere will be 95.4 billion drams or about 3% of GDP. In 2009 budget expenses of education sphere will be 108 billion drams. ($1-387.72 drams) --0—
