Armenia’s leading mobile operator starts cooperation with national center for oncology

YEREVAN, June 11, /ARKA/. VivaCell-MTS, a subsidiary of “Mobile TeleSystems” OJSC, believes the struggle against cancer is a major challenge of the century and readily stretches hand to the National Center for Oncology by supporting in equipping the clinic with photodynamic diagnostic systems – the latest achievement in medical technology. The total amount allocated for the acquisition of the equipment is AMD 68, 250, 000 AMD.

“It’s just because we care that we are here today, beyond compassion and sweet words actions are needed. The statistics on the spread of cancer are growing early diagnosis and preventive actions are needed, we are responsible to help,” stated VivaCell-MTS General manager Ralph Yirikian.

Hand in hand with VivaCell-MTS, the National Center for Oncology and the National Center for the Development of Oncology spare no effort to provide medical services in this sphere on world-class standards. The National Center for Oncology has recently got equipment that will provide opportunity for in-depth diagnosis of the disease, digitalized archivation of the data, and, in case of necessity, organization of consultations with clinics and experts in other countries.

One of the recently obtained equipment – the photodynamic diagnosis system – is unique in Armenia, and is the only means so far available in identifying the urinary bladder tumor.

“Good health is the greatest reward. We as a nation are advanced, talented and aware enough to put whatever tools in the hands of our medical body to support our parents and beloved ones getting all medical care needed. Cancer is randomly harvesting our beloved ones, we need to join hands in this fight and make sure patients get the necessary attention here in Armenia without the need of traveling outside the country with all what that means from high expenses to endless procedures,” - added VivaCell-MTS General Manager.

The National Center for Oncology hosts more than 10 thousand patients a year suffering various types of tumors. The new equipment now available in the center will seriously help in early diagnosis of malignant tumors and in improvement of long-term results of the treatment. Furthermore, the compact size and mobility of the equipment will make it possible to organize diagnostic visits to the regions of the republic.

The specialists also lay much hope in early diagnosis and treatment of malignant neoplasms in lung, throat, stomach, urethra, kidney, as well as in other organs. One of the apparatuses provided with ultrasonic cutting blade allows for drastic decrease in the duration of surgeries, minimization of bleeding during the operation, as well as provides shorter post-surgery recovery, and helps nearly prevent the after-surgery complications.

Upon the decision of the administrative board of the National Center for Oncology VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian was awarded the honorary diploma of the Great Friend of the Center in recognition of significant contribution.-0-
