“Due to the implementation of the program, newborn mortality index in Armenia reduced from 16% to 11% (data of University Hospital N1). We consider that it is a great contribution to the development of the country because maintenance of children’s lives is the guarantee for future:, he said during the conference dedicated to the implementation of the program on Thursday.

Today funding of the program is about 359 million drams. “The program is continuing and despite we have finished our work in Yerevan in general, there is a lot of work to do in the regions – provide equipment and organization of training courses for the doctors and nurses”, said Yirikyan.

Director of NGO BirthLink Katy Mellor mentioned that the conference dedicated to the program on the improvement of neonatal care is the important part of educational work.
