Armenia’s Armakits village provided with street lightening system by joint efforts of VivaCell-MTS and FPWC

YEREVAN, September 27. /ARKA/. VivaCell-MTS and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) have deployed street lightening system in Armakits community, Lori province, as part of the Alternative Energy Project, the press office of the telecommunication company reports.    

According to the press release, an outdoor lighting system, consisting of 54 LED lamps, has been installed in the community. As a result, two main streets of the community have been provided with a street lighting system about 1,900 meters.

“Creating solutions for environmental protection and applying them in real life is among the top priorities in the agenda of the developed countries in the world. The caring attitude towards nature and the denial of consumerism are important criteria for measuring the level of consciousness of a person, a nation, or a country. The usage of alternative energy sources, apart from its financial benefits, is a huge step towards a more responsible and civilized lifestyle,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian is quoted in the press release.

The Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets and VivaCell-MTS are convinced that the use of latest technologies in environmental protection initiatives promotes nature conservation, energy efficiency and community development.

The “Alternative Energy” project aims to reduce pollution and protect the environment by using alternative energy resources, particularly solar thermal systems and LED street lights. This year the project is being implemented in a number of communities in Tavush, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Lori regions.

VivaCell-MTS (K-Telecom CJSC), mobile telecommunication company, started operating in Armenia in 2005.
