Armenia’s mobile telecommunication operators get new regional codes
YEREVAN, June 25. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission decided Wednesday to provide new regional codes to three mobile telecommunication operators – ArmenTel (Beeline brand), K-Telecom (VivaCell-MTS brand) and FTA Telecom (Orange Armenia brand).
Gevorg Gevorgyan, chief of the commission’s division in charge of telecommunications, speaking at the session where the decision was made, said +374(0) 41 regional code will be provided to Orange Armenia, +374(0) 43 to ArmenTel and +374(0) 49 to VivaCell-MTS.
“This decision is connected with the launch of MNP service rather than supplementation of the codes the operators already possess,” Gevorgyan said adding that the codes had been chosen by lot.
MNP service was launched in Armenia on April 1, 2014. It allows transition from one operator to another without changing the phone number.
ArmenTel (Beeline), provides numbers with regional codes 091,096 and 099, K-Telecom (VivaCell-MTS) with 077, 093, 094 and 098 and FTA Telecom (Orange Armenia) with 055 and 095.
These three mobile telecommunication operators serve Armenia’s population. ArmenTel is a subsidiary of Russia’s VimpelCom, VivaCell-MTS is a subsidiary of Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems OJSC and Orange Armenia is a subsidiary of France Telecom. ---0----
