Armenia to showcase local version of Skype, Viber and WhatsApp at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

YEREVAN, February 27. /ARKA/. An Armenia delegation led by the transport, communications and information technology minister Vahan Martirosyan has left for Spain to showcase Armenia’s  achievements in ICT sector for the first time at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. In Barcelona Armenia will present the Zangi application (the Armenian analogue of Skype, Viber and WhatsApp), the ministry said. Zangi app was launched in 2012.

According to the founder of the company Vahram Martirosyan, Zangi allows making calls, sending and receiving messages, making also video calls from all smartphones and tablets running on iOS and Android operating platforms.

At the Mobile World Congress Armenia will present the updated version of Zangi, as well as a web application, a computer version and group chat. At present, the company has more than a million subscribers and their number is constantly growing with dozens of new subscribers joining a day.

"We also have dozens of corporate customers, including telecom operators in 12 countries and in the near future we will establish cooperation with one of the Armenian telecommunications operators," Martirosyan said.

He said the main purpose of participation in the Mobile World Congress is to present the application in the international market, look for new customers, as well as establish direct business contacts.
The free voice and video calls Zangi HD service allows communication even with poor Wi-Fi and free HD video chat and voice calls even in 2G network, ultra-fast messenger, fast transfer of photos and video files.

Zangi has a special mode for left-handers, a high level of safety, minimum battery consumption, automatic detection of local numbers in one’s contacts, free incoming calls for travelers with Z-Roaming service, the opportunity to communicate with a zero balance via Zangi-Callback service, while Zangi- out service will allow making calls to any number, even to non-subscribers of Zangi at very low prices.  -0-
