Armenian IT engineers ready to develop new solutions for defense of country
YEREVAN, April 29. /ARKA/. Armenian IT companies are waiting for the country's leadership order to start development of state-of-the-art solutions for the defense and national security sectors, Karen Vardanyan, the director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), said to a news conference today.
In his words, 300 Armenian IT engineers from 50 companies have expressed readiness to contribute to development of new solutions to improve the capabilities of the armed forces. According to Vardanyan, the only problem is that the available potential of Armenian IT professionals need to be coordinated.
"We are waiting for a clear order of the commander–in-chief to start the work. Armenian IT engineers are capable of developing any product. What we need is to know what to develop - defensive or offensive equipment,' Vardanyan said.
Moreover, according to Vardanyan, Armenia also has the potential to produce and export military hardware. In his opinion, expansion of local military-industrial complex would cost Armenia many times cheaper than the purchase of modern weapons from the outside. -0-
