Armenian messenger Zangi now available on Rostelecom TV screens

YEREVAN, June 13. /ARKA/. An Armenian messenger Zangi is now available on smart-TV screens of Rostelecom in Armenia. The companies said today that thanks to their cooperation Rostelecom subscribers in Armenia are now able to make free voice and video calls and send messages via Zangi application directly from the screens of their TV sets.

Hayk Faramazyan, CEO of Rostelecom in Armenia, said this cooperation is the only one in Armenia, since Rostelecom was the first company to offer its subscribers the opportunity to communicate with loved ones from their TV screens. He said this new service, like any technological novelty, makes life easier for people, making also communication easy and affordable. 

‘We underscore the advantages of the Zangi messenger, which make the application interesting not only for Armenian, but also foreign users," Faramazyan said.

According to him, the joint service has already been tested and at the moment all Smart TV subscribers of Rostelecom in Armenia can use it. Overall, Faramazyan highly appreciated the cooperation of the two Armenian companies, which have combined their efforts to promote and develop domestic technologies.

The Zangi messenger is said to have several competitive advantages: it is available everywhere, even in 2G / EDGE networks or in overloaded Wi-Fi networks; it saves traffic (a one MB internet allows up to 7 minute conversation); it is secure (all data are encoded, while letters and contacts are not stored on its servers); it provides high-quality HD calls and video calls.

According to the founder and CEO of  Zangi Vahram Martirosyan, the messenger app  is one of the best technological solutions both in the country and abroad and already competes with the established brands in this field.

"We have 1.5 million officially registered users, while the number of daily downloads reaches several thousand.  Cooperation with Rostelecom will allow us to enter a new market and act in a new format, including as an appendix to television,' Martirosyan said.

The latest update of Rostelecom television program offers also the ability to watch Online TV and weather forecast for Armenian, Russian and European cities.

In order to use Zangi messenger from a TV screen, the subscriber should enter a phone number and then register. Then enter the phone number registered in Zangi on the TV keyboard and press the green button, after which the application will select the service - free call, video call or message, including the ability to send various stickers, including in the Armenian language.

Zangi was established in 2009. Since 2015, it has been available for both iOS and Android.
