Armenian regulator provides access to short phone numbers to mobile telecommunication operators
YEREVAN, May 24. /ARKA. The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia provided Wednesday short telephone numbers to Ucom and VivaCell-MTS telecommunication companies.
As a rule, short numbers are used for calling emergency services and for providing paid or free services.
Gevorg Gevorgyan, chief of the Public Services Regulatory Commission’s telecommunication division, said this allows the company to provide short phone numbers for commercial purposes.
In particular, VivaCell-MTS has got a permission to use 8161, and Ucom will use 8104, 8105, 8106, 8107, 8108, 8109, 8112, 8113, 8114, 8115, 8116, 8117, 8120, 8122, 8123”, 8124, 8125, 812”, 8127 and 8128.
“Ucom says that it has already received three requests for using short easy-to-remember numbers,” Gevorgyan said.
He said that ArmenTel (Beeline brand) already enjoys such numbers (73 short numbers), VivaCell-MTS uses one short number and Ucom will use 20 numbers. --0---
