Armenian teenagers with autism to be taught information technology
YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Armenian teenagers with autism will be able to take part in a unique program called "Technology without Borders", which started today in Yerevan. The program is a joint initiative of the Technology and Science Dynamics Inc. and New Technology Education Foundation charity. It will be implemented in concert with the Autism National Foundation.
The founder of Technology and Science Dynamics Inc. Vahan Shakaryan told a news conference today that the company had explored the international experience, and took also part in a similar program in the US.
"Today we have to try to move this experience to Armenia. Autism is a global problem", he said.
The program is open to teenagers over 15, who, according to the level of their capabilities, will be divided into several groups. ‘The participants who successfully complete the program will be employed in our company", said Shakaryan.
The director of the Autism National Foundation Lilit Altajanyan added that the program will help young people with disabilities to learn computer skills, and in the future to find work.
"This is a great program. We welcome this initiative and hope that it will serve as an example for other Armenian employers,' she said.
Technology and Science Dynamics Inc., the manufacturer of Armenian ArmTab tablets and ArmPhone smartphones, was founded in 2013. The company deals also with advanced studies in biotechnology and medical engineering,
The Autism National Foundation was established in 2012 at the initiative of the First Lady Rita Sargsyan. Its activities are aimed at solving the problems of education, development and employment of people with autism. -- 0--
