Beeline in Armenia receives international award for contribution to development of telecommunications in Eastern Europe

YEREVAN, November 23. /ARKA/. Beeline, one of telecommunication operators in Armenia, has received an honorable award from the International Telecommunication Union for contribution to development of telecommunication area in Eastern Europe. 

The award was handed to the company’s administration on Wednesday by Vahan Martirosyan, Armenian transport, communication and information technology minister. 

According to the company’s press office, the award was provided as part of the union’s contest held on October 9 to 21 in Buenos Aires. 

“We are happy that an Armenian company has got such a high award and, this award, for sure, is obliging and requiring more efforts from the operator for development and higher-quality services for customers,” Martirosyan said. 

Beeline CEO in Armenia Andrey Pyatakhin, on his side, expressing satisfaction over the reception of the award, said it was a surprise for the company.  

“This means that the judgment was really objective, and we can be proud of such results,” he said. “As part of a large international group, we are guided by international standards in our work, and we have likely accomplished in holding up to these standards.”

Mikhail Gerchuk, CEO of Head of Eurasia at VEON Ltd. (Former VimpelCom Ltd), said that over a half of the Group’s presence market is in the Eurasia region, when the company makes long-term investments and has billions of customers.  

“Introduction of progressive technologies in all the countries of our presence is very important to us,” he said. “Such an approach produces certain results, and a high mark received from a respected international organization, such as the International Telecommunication Union, shows that either customers or the telecommunication industry benefit from this approach.”

The ward was initially handed to Armenian Ambassador to Argentina Ester Mkrtumyan and then it was brought to Armenia through the Armenian foreign affairs ministry.
