Better quality internet for Orange Armenia subscribers
YEREVAN, December 17. /ARKA/. Orange Armenia telecom's subscribers will soon have the possibility of benefiting from a more stable and better quality connection, the company said today in a press release. This improvement is due to connecting Orange Armenia mobile sites to Ucom fiber-optics. Network upgrade works have already started both in Yerevan and regions.
The heads of Orange Armenia and Ucom have visited Kotayk region to review the ongoing works.
“We have already made large-scale investments in Orange Armenia network infrastructure that will allow improving significantly the quality of provided voice and data services. It’s rather a big project aimed at connecting all Orange Armenia mobile base stations to Ucom fiber-optic network in a short period of time,” said Hayk Yesayan, Director of Ucom.
Almost all Armenian mobile operators ensure the performance of their networks mainly through radio-relay connection. Unlike this means of connection, which is based on stations emitting electromagnetic waves, Ucom uses fiber-optic that allows data packet transfer over greater distances and at a higher speed as compared with others.
Aleksandr Yesayan, General Director of Orange Armenia, also spoke of the importance of the upgrade of Orange Armenia network infrastructure: “We continue taking measures towards expansion and upgrade of Orange Armenia coverage and network. These network upgrade, which, by the way, encompass the entire territory of the country, will help to make the speed of provided internet services more stable; it’ll also provide basis for the launch of new generation services”.
So, the connection of Orange Armenia mobile base stations to Ucom fiber-optic network will lead to improvement of service quality, will support more stable connection, in particular, in highland areas, as well as will increase the speed of provided internet services.
Ucom has built an ultramodern fiber-optic network in Armenia since 2009 that allows providing 3 services (Triple Play) with a single connection. Triple Play includes Internet connection, IP television and landline digital phone. As of June 2015, the company had over 100 000 subscribers and more than 800 employees. In partnership with the world giant companies Ucom has been able to ensure a solid place on the Armenian telecom market.
Orange Armenia has been providing voice and data services in Armenia since November 5, 2009. Through its innovative network the company provides a full range of voice and data services in the cities and villages of Armenia, to more than 98% of the population. As of June 2015 the company had over 800 employees directly or indirectly engaged in company’s daily activity, serving over 640 000 subscribers. ($1 – 483.66 drams).--0--
