Dasaran’s E-Stat Diagnostic tool on Public Education to ensure monitoring of education
YEREVAN, November 23. /ARKA/. Dasaran educational program presented today the E-Stat Diagnostic Tool (eSDT) on Public Education, an advanced online statistical-analytical tool that aims to provide comprehensive insights into the school education system and allow for effective monitoring of public schools and education indicators throughout the country.
The eSDT, the development of which is funded by the European Union, is provided to the Republic of Armenia Government, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, as well as to national and local authorities responsible for education, laying foundations for the latter to use the data for efficient and effective policymaking, primarily in diagnosing critical conditions that may be affecting educational outcomes and providing information that can be essential in making data-driven and informed policy decisions in the education sector.
According to a press release from Dasaran, Dasaran helps build infrastructural capacity through low cost, yet state of the art and high-quality innovative technological means for effective and efficient policy-making in the education sector, contributing both to SDG 4 (Education) and SDG 9 (technology, innovation, and infrastructure).
Throughout the past 7 years of its activities Dasaran has achieved a full coverage of public schools in Armenia, connecting all 1347 public schools (incl. principals, teachers, students and parents/guardians) to a single unified electronic platform.
With the collection of demographic data on teachers, school students and parents/guardians, and with all the teachers posting grades and homework assignments on daily basis, the database has been constantly enlarging and creating wider opportunities for its analysis.
With the voluntary support of several experts from the Harvard University, Dasaran team has commenced extensive big data analysis, connecting the existing data to the respective indicators and transforming those into relevant information for state-level policy-making.
The big data analysis by Dasaran is extremely important from the perspectives of strategic planning and policy making, clearly identifying the gaps and challenges in the school education system and promoting their solution through the introduction of new policies, regulations or activities that tend to reform the school education system in Armenia.
The eSDT provides real-time statistical data and comparative analysis on school management efficiency, school enrollment, and student performance using various indicators, including student, parent and teacher distribution by region (territorial-administrative units), age and gender distribution, student performance data by average grades and absence rates, student emigration and transfer rates (from regions to Yerevan or from Armenia to foreign countries), comparative analysis of teachers’ workload and teacher/student ratios in class, and the respective shift projection by years. —0--
