Eighth BarCamp Yerevan 2016 to bring together more than 2000 people
YEREVAN, June 17. /ARKA/. The eighth BarCamp Yerevan 2016 informal gathering, scheduled for June 18-19 in the Armenian capital, will bring together more than 2,000 experts in the field of media and information technology.
The Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) said the participants will again have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills, as well as share their own experiences. This year's BarCamp Yerevan will also feature workshops and an IT professionals labor market.
This year’s event will feature four international guests: Yandex Taxi project’s marketing director Danil Shuleyko, SMM expert Andrei Frolchenkov, Jumpstart media company executive director Eric Barrett and the executive director of the Center for Internet and Human Rights Joanna Bronowski.
Ucom Armenian telecom provider has been the general partner of BarCamp Yerevan for the third year in a row. Other sponsors are Workfront Armenia, SFL LLC, BetConstruct, PicsArt, Synergy, Insider, Simply Technologies. The event is being also supported by the American University of Armenia, Center for Media Initiatives, TMS Burger. The information partners are Mediamax, IP Marketing and Startup Armenia.

BarCamp was first held in California’s Silicon Valley in 2005 and later became a popular event around the world. Organizers call BarCamp an “unconference” for its informal character.
The first BarCamp in the post-Soviet space was held in Kiev in 2007. It gathered more than 300 participants from Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland and other countries.
The Kiev BarCamp was followed by BarCamp Baltics in Riga (February 2008) and BarCamp Caucasus in Tbilisi (June 2008). The first BarCamp in Yerevan was held in April 2009. -0-
