Eurasian economic commission may abolish all roaming charges after 2017
YEREVAN, May 12. / ARKA /. The Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive body of the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, may abolish all roaming charges across the union after 2017, Alexander Kuyrilchik, deputy director of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Department for Antimonopoly Regulation, said today.
"We propose that a draft decision on establishing price caps for the period of 2016-2017 be set for roaming in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, to be followed by their zeroing," he told reporters, RIA Novosti reported. Kurilchik said the European Union is also working to abolish all roaming charges.
Earlier Kurilchik said prices for outgoing calls within the Eurasian Economic Union were 3-5 times higher than maximum rates in the EU, prices for outgoing roaming SMS were in 2-3 times higher while data transfer was 8 -21 times higher than in the European Union.-0-
