From self-driving cars to 5G, from classical music to rock – Engineering Week kicks off in Armenia
YEREVAN, June 24. /ARKA/. The Engineering Week of a new mode, which has developed from a technologic exhibition in Vanadzor into a global event of presentation of engineering achievements, kicked off Monday for the first time with a small concert of classical music in Yerevan and will wrap up Friday with a big rock music concert in Vanadzor. The event will demonstrate Armenia’s high-tech and engineering capacity – Armenian technologies in the testing of self-driving cars, 5G, industrial IOT, semiconductors etc. Bagrat Yengibaryan, head of the Enterprises Incubator Foundation told ARKA News Agency that the event is innovative mainly for “our attempt to unite engineering, science, education and industry and present Armenia not only as a country with high technologies, which can become a propeller of the country’s economy, but also to show that there are solutions in Armenia which are needed all over the world and which we can supply”. In his words, special emphasis is put on the exhibition, where the most innovative and advanced technologies are present. There are self-driving cars, 5G technologies and particular projects. ”I think Armenia has a huge capacity to develop engineering technologies, which will open a new page in the development of the country’s scientific potential – starting from material engineering, electronics and solutions in robotics,” Yengibaryan said. In his words, there are many companies in Armenia that present extraordinary engineering solutions, and some 20 of them already work in the Engineering Town. Besides, he said, large foreign companies, such as AirBus and Schneider Electric express their interest in Armenian technologies. He said that there is a large-scale cooperation also with car producers. “We will try to ensure their presence at Armenia’s market as soon as possible, since self-driving vehicles are a very promising and fast-developing segment all over the world, and Armenia has prepared interesting solutions in this area,” Yengibaryan said. Along with Armenian specialists, experts from Europe, the United States and Africa, representatives of Nvidia and Nokia companies are attending the event. More than 30 local and foreign companies will present their projects during the Engineering Week. The Engineering Week is being held in Armenia on the initiative of the government, the Enterprises Incubator Foundation and the Engineering Association of Armenia. -0---
