Government to co-finance participation of Armenian delegates in WCIT-2016
YEREVAN, September 5. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved last Friday the release of 9.7 million drams to co-finance the participation of the country in the World Congress on Information Technology WCIT-2016, to be hosted by Brazil on October 3-5. The event is expected to bring together around 2000 delegates from more than 80 countries.
"By tradition, each subsequent country hosting WCIT, must ensure its presence in the current congress both at public and private levels", economy minister Artsvik Minasyan said, adding that the Armenian delegation will comprise 14 people.
Armenia will host the World Congress of Information Technology in 2019 (WCIT 2019), an event that may become a turning point for its IT industry. The decision to hold WCIT 2019 in the capital of Armenia was adopted at WCIT-14, which was held in Mexico City on 29th of September – October 1.
The World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) is a consortium of associations from information and communications technology industries around the world. The group claims that it represents over 90 percent of the world IT market through its global membership, and has a goal of advancing the growth and development of the IT industry.
WITSA was founded in 1978 as the World Computing Services Industry Association, and participates in advocacy in international public policy that affects the “global information infrastructure.”-0-
