I know, but won't say: Hi-Tech Industry Minister didn't disclose details about MTS-Armenia sale
YEREVAN, November 17. /ARKA/. Armenian Hi-Tech Industry Minister Robert Khachatryan refused todayto take questions from reporters regarding the approval of the sale of MTS Armenia telecom operator to Cyprus-registered Fedilco Group Limited.
The minister was asked whether he considered the sale of the operator to a company, whose real owner is unknown, a threat to national security.
Khachatryan replied that he knows who the real owner is. He was then asked to reveal its name.
"I know, but I will not tell you. If you have such questions, please contact us in writing, we will answer," Khachatryan said.
On November 15 Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) approved the transfer of control over MTS Armenia (trading as Viva-MTS, a subsidiary of Russia's MTS) to the Cypriot firm Fedilco Group Limited, which is owned by another Cyprus-based company called Aramayo Investments Limited (registered in Cyprus, a member of MTS group). -0-
